Dough Ingredients

Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Add the activated yeast mixture, yogurt, and olive oil. Mix well to form a dough.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let the Dough Rise

Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, mix the crumbled paneer, grated cheese, chopped cilantro, chopped green chili, and salt. Combine well and set aside.

Naan Assembly and Cooking

  1. 6

    Divide the Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into equal-sized balls (about 8-10).

  2. 7

    Stuff the Naan

Flatten each dough ball into a small disc, place a spoonful of the filling in the center, and fold the edges over to enclose the filling. Flatten gently.

  3. 8

    Cook the Naan

Heat a tawa or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the naan on one side for about 1-2 minutes until bubbles form, then flip and cook the other side until golden brown and cooked through. You can also cook it in an oven at 500°F (260°C) for about 5-7 minutes.

  4. 9

    Serve

Brush the cooked naan with melted butter or ghee, if desired, and serve hot with your favorite curry or yogurt.
