Aloo Tikki Chaat Recipe
Traditional potato and green pea patties, seasoned with ginger, garlic, cumin, and coriander dunked in seasoned chickpea curry topped with yogurt, tomatoes, onions, mint and tamarind chutney.

For the Aloo Tikki (Potato Patties)

Prepare the Potatoes
Boil the potatoes until tender, then peel and mash them in a large bowl.

Prepare the Mixture
Add green peas, grated ginger, minced garlic, cumin powder, coriander powder, salt, and red chili powder to the mashed potatoes. Mix well until combined.

Form the Patties
Shape the mixture into small round patties and coat each with breadcrumbs.

Fry the Patties
In a deep frying pan, heat oil over medium heat. Fry the patties until golden brown and crispy on both sides. Drain on paper towels.

Add Tomato Puree
Stir in the ginger-garlic paste and cook for a minute. Then add the tomato puree, turmeric powder, salt, and cook until the oil separates from the mixture.

Combine with Chickpeas
Add the boiled chickpeas and water to the pan. Let it simmer for about 10 minutes. Sprinkle garam masala before removing from heat.
Assemble the Aloo Tikki Chaat

Layer the Ingredients
In a serving plate, place 2-3 aloo tikki on the base, top with the chickpea curry, and drizzle with whisked yogurt.

Sprinkle diced tomatoes and onions, and add chopped mint leaves and tamarind chutney on top.
