Macaron Ingredients

Method

Macaron Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare Ingredients

Sift the almond flour and powdered sugar together into a bowl to remove any lumps. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Whip Egg Whites

In a clean, dry mixing bowl, whip the egg whites on medium speed until foamy. Gradually add the granulated sugar and increase the speed to high. Whip until stiff peaks form.

  3. 3

    Combine Mixtures

Gently fold the sifted almond flour and powdered sugar into the whipped egg whites using a spatula. Be careful not to deflate the batter too much.

  4. 4

    Add Flavor and Color

Add vanilla extract and food coloring to the batter. Fold gently until fully incorporated. The batter should flow like lava.

  5. 5

    Pipe the Macarons

Transfer the batter into a piping bag fitted with a round tip. Pipe small circles onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Tap the baking sheet on the counter to release air bubbles.

  6. 6

    Rest the Macarons

Let the piped macarons rest at room temperature for 30-60 minutes, or until a skin forms on top.

  7. 7

    Bake

Preheat the oven to 300°F (150°C). Bake the macarons for 15-20 minutes. They should have a smooth shell and be able to lift off the parchment paper easily.

  8. 8

    Cool and Fill

Allow the macarons to cool completely before filling them with your choice of ganache, buttercream, or jam.
