Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Start by peeling and finely chopping the fresh garlic. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Sauté Garlic

In a large saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1-2 minutes. Be careful not to burn it.

  3. 3

    Add Tomatoes

Pour in the San Marzano tomatoes, including their juices. Use a spoon to break up the tomatoes into smaller pieces if desired.

  4. 4

    Season the Sauce

Stir in the dried oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  5. 5

    Simmer

Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce simmer uncovered for about 30-40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens to your liking.

  6. 6

    Adjust Seasoning

Taste the sauce and adjust the seasoning if necessary, adding more salt or pepper to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Once the sauce is ready, remove it from the heat. If using, stir in fresh basil just before serving or use it as a garnish.
