Combine spirits and modifiers
Add the gin, sweet vermouth, Campari, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup, and orange bitters into a mixing glass or shaker.

Fill the mixing glass with 8–10 large ice cubes to chill and dilute the mixture properly.

Stir
Stir the mixture briskly for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full strokes) until well chilled and slightly diluted—liquid should feel very cold on the outside of the glass.

Place one large ice cube or sphere into a chilled Old Fashioned or rocks glass.
