Essence Of Earth Wrap Recipe
The Essence of Earth Mud Wrap begins with invigorating dry brushing to exfoliate and stimulate circulation. A rich layer of desert sea mud is then applied, working to detoxify the body by encouraging sweating, while promoting hydration, toning, and muscle relaxation.

Preparation & Supplies
- 1
Setup
Prepare the treatment table with the waterproof cover and place one large towel on the table for client comfort. Lay the cotton sheet nearby for wrapping layers. Plug in and preheat the thermal blanket on a low-to-moderate setting so it will be warm but not hot when needed. Arrange hot towels, plastic wrap, gloves, timer, and optional hot stones within reach.
- 2
Have the client remove clothing as appropriate and position them comfortably on the table with a towel draped for modesty. Confirm any contraindications (pregnancy, open wounds, high blood pressure, recent sunburn, allergies to ingredients).
Exfoliation
- 3
Dry brushing technique
Put on disposable gloves. Using the dry brush, perform dry brushing for 6–10 minutes. Start at the feet and use long, brisk strokes toward the heart. Use circular motions on joints and lighter strokes across sensitive areas. Spend extra attention on rough areas (heels, elbows) but avoid broken skin. Remove the brush and set aside.
- 4
After dry brushing, wipe off loose dead skin with the second towel or have the client take a brief dry rinse if desired (no soap). Ensure skin is dry before mud application.
Mud Blend (Essence of Earth)
- 5
Mix the mud
In a clean mixing bowl, combine 0.75 cup desert sea mud powder and 0.25 cup bentonite clay. Stir in 2 tbs fine mineral desert salt. Gradually add 180 ml warm distilled water, mixing until a smooth, spreadable paste forms (aim for a thick yogurt consistency). Stir in 2 tbs aloe vera gel and 1 tbs jojoba oil until incorporated. Add 5 tsp lavender essential oil and mix thoroughly. The final amount should cover a single full-body application; adjust small amounts of warm water if needed to reach spreadable texture.
- 6
Perform a quick patch test: apply a small pea-sized amount to the inner forearm and wait 2 minutes to ensure no irritation. If irritation occurs, do not proceed.
Application & Wrap
- 7
Temperature check & client prep
Confirm the client is comfortable and the thermal blanket is warm but not hot. Place the cotton sheet under the client (or drape over areas you will not treat).
- 8
Apply mud
Using gloved hands, scoop the prepared mud paste and apply evenly to the body in sections. Work from the feet upward toward the torso, then arms, finishing with the shoulders and back. Apply a 3–5 mm even layer — enough to cover skin but not so thick it drips. Leave face, eye area, and genitals uncovered. Save any remaining mud for spot touch-ups. Smooth edges so the mud layer is continuous and conforms to body contours.
- 9
Layer and wrap
Cover the mud-coated areas with the cotton sheet, then wrap the plastic wrap snugly but not tightly over the sheet to lock in warmth and moisture. If using hot stones, place them on top of the plastic wrap over large muscle groups (e.g., lower back, thighs) ensuring a towel layer between stones and wrap to avoid direct heat transfer. Turn the thermal blanket on to low-moderate and cover the wrapped client. Start the timer for the resting phase (35–45 minutes).
Resting & Thermal Phase
- 10
Monitoring & aromatherapy
Check the client's comfort within the first 5 minutes, then every 10–15 minutes. Watch for signs of overheating (dizziness, flushed skin). If client requests, use a diffuser set to low with gentle lavender (do not over-saturate the room).
- 11
Allow the wrap to work for 35–45 minutes. During this time the mud encourages circulation, sweating, and mineral absorption while the thermal blanket enhances detoxification and muscle relaxation.
Rinse & Hydration
- 12
Unwrap and gentle rinse
When the timer ends, carefully remove the thermal blanket, plastic wrap and cotton sheet. Use hot towels to gently loosen and remove the bulk of the mud. Escort the client to a shower or use basin and warm water (500 ml available) and soft cloths to rinse remaining mud completely with warm water — avoid vigorous scrubbing. Ensure all mud is removed from skin folds.
- 13
Finish & moisturize
Pat the skin dry with a clean towel. Apply 30 ml hydrating body lotion or oil evenly to the body while the skin is slightly warm to lock in moisture. Mist the face and neck with 50 ml cooling mist. Offer the client 5–10 minutes seated rest to re-acclimate before dressing.
- 14
Advise post-treatment care: drink water to rehydrate, avoid vigorous exercise or hot tubs for 6–12 hours, and apply additional moisturizer as needed. Note any skin sensitivity and recommend patch-testing products at home if irritation occurs.
