Method

Cooking the Crabs

  1. 1

    Prepare the Water

In a large pot, add 4 quarts of water and 1 tablespoon of salt. Bring the water to a rolling boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Add the Crabs

Once the water is boiling, carefully add the 2 pounds of blue crabs to the pot. Be cautious as the water will splatter.

  3. 3

    Season the Crabs

Sprinkle 3 tablespoons of Old Bay seasoning over the crabs in the pot. Stir gently to ensure the crabs are evenly coated.

  4. 4

    Boil the Crabs

Cover the pot and allow the crabs to boil for 15-20 minutes until they turn bright red and are cooked through.

  5. 5

    Drain and Serve

Carefully drain the crabs in a colander and let them cool slightly before serving.

Making the Dipping Sauce

  1. 6

    Melt the Butter

In a small saucepan, melt 1 cup of butter over low heat.

  2. 7

    Add Garlic

Once the butter is melted, add 4 minced garlic cloves to the saucepan and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 8

    Finish the Sauce

Stir in 2 tablespoons of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of chopped parsley. Mix well and remove from heat.

  4. 9

    Serve with Crabs

Serve the melted garlic butter dipping sauce alongside the boiled blue crabs for dipping.
