Directions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Add the flank steak, ensuring it is well coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.

  2. 2

    Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and grill for about 5-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

  3. 3

    Caramelize the Onions

In the same skillet, add the sliced onion and cook over medium heat for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until they are golden brown and caramelized.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Tacos

Warm the corn tortillas in a dry skillet for about 30 seconds on each side. Slice the grilled steak thinly. Assemble the tacos by placing steak slices on the tortillas, topping with caramelized onions, pico de gallo, chopped cilantro, and crumbled queso fresco.

  5. 5

    Serve

Serve the carne asada tacos immediately with lime wedges on the side.
