Carne Asada Ingredients

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, combine olive oil, lime juice, minced garlic, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Add the flank steak, ensuring it's well-coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Onions

Slice the onions into thin rings. Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a bit of olive oil. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring frequently, until they are caramelized, about 15-20 minutes.

  3. 3

    Grill the Steak

Preheat the grill to high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade. Grill the steak for about 6-7 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Rest the Steak

Remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing it thinly against the grain.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Dish

Serve the sliced steak topped with caramelized onions, pico de gallo, a sprinkle of fresh cilantro, and crumbled queso fresco.
