Horchata Preparation Instructions

1. Soak the Rice

In a bowl, combine the long-grain white rice and 2 cups of water. Cover and let it soak for at least 4 hours or overnight.

2. Blend the Mixture

After soaking, drain the rice and add it to a blender with the remaining 2 cups of water and the cinnamon stick. Blend until the rice and cinnamon are finely ground.

3. Strain the Mixture

Pour the blended mixture through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large pitcher, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible. Discard the solids.

4. Add Sweetness and Flavor

Stir in the vanilla extract, sugar cane (or granulated sugar), and milk. Mix until the sugar is fully dissolved.

5. Chill and Serve

Refrigerate the horchata for at least 1 hour to chill. Serve over ice and sprinkle with ground cinnamon on top before serving.
