Preparing the Coffee Mixture

Brew the Espresso
Brew 1 cup of strong espresso coffee. Allow it to cool slightly before using.

Mix Coffee and Sugar
In a shallow dish, combine the brewed espresso with half of the sugar (1/2 cup) and stir until the sugar is dissolved.
Making the Mascarpone Mixture

Whisk Egg Yolks
In a large bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and the remaining sugar (1/2 cup) until the mixture is pale and creamy.

Add Mascarpone
Gently fold in the mascarpone cheese and vanilla extract until well combined and smooth.

Whip Heavy Cream
In a separate bowl, whip the heavy cream until stiff peaks form.

Combine Mixtures
Carefully fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully incorporated.
Assembling the Tiramisu

Dip Ladyfingers
Quickly dip each ladyfinger into the espresso mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not soggy.

Layer the Ingredients
In a rectangular dish, layer half of the soaked ladyfingers on the bottom. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.

Repeat Layers
Repeat the process with the remaining ladyfingers and mascarpone mixture.
Chilling and Serving

Chill the Dessert
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight, to allow flavors to meld.

Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder and sprinkle with dark chocolate shavings.
