Pasta

Method

Cooking the Pasta

  1. 1

    Boil Water

Fill a large pot with water, add salt, and bring to a boil over high heat.

  2. 2

    Cook Pasta

Add the fettuccine pasta to the boiling water and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes.

  3. 3

    Drain Pasta

Once cooked, drain the pasta and set aside. Reserve about 1 cup of pasta water for later use.

Making the Alfredo Sauce

  1. 4

    Melt Butter

In a large skillet over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.

  2. 5

    Add Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 6

    Add Cream

Pour in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Stir occasionally for about 5 minutes.

  4. 7

    Add Cheese and Season

Gradually whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until melted and smooth. Season with black pepper and nutmeg (if using).

Combining Pasta and Sauce

  1. 8

    Combine

Add the drained fettuccine to the Alfredo sauce in the skillet. Toss well to coat the pasta in the sauce.

  2. 9

    Adjust Consistency

If the sauce is too thick, add reserved pasta water a little at a time until you reach your desired consistency.

  3. 10

    Serve

Transfer the fettuccine Alfredo to serving plates and garnish with chopped fresh parsley before serving.
