Making the Lemonade Base

Juicing the Lemons
Roll the fresh lemons on a countertop to soften them. Cut them in half and juice them using a citrus juicer until you have about 1 cup of lemon juice.

In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of granulated sugar with 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool.

In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the cooled sugar syrup, and the remaining 3 cups of water. Stir well to combine.
