Main Ingredients

Method

Preparing the Tuna

  1. 1

    Season the Tuna

Pat the yellow fin tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  3. 3

    Sear the Tuna

Carefully place the seasoned tuna steaks in the hot skillet. Sear for 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or adjust cooking time to your desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Remove and Rest

Once cooked, remove the tuna from the skillet and let it rest for about 5 minutes before slicing.

Making the Ginger-Soy Dipping Sauce

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, grated fresh ginger, honey, rice vinegar, wasabi paste, and sesame oil until well combined.

  2. 6

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the dipping sauce and adjust the wasabi according to your preference for spiciness.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice the Tuna

Slice the seared tuna steaks into thin strips and arrange them on a serving platter.

  2. 8

    Serve with Sauce

Serve the sliced tuna with the ginger-soy dipping sauce on the side for drizzling or dipping.
