Oatmeal

Method

Preparation

1

Cook the Oats

In a medium saucepan, bring the water (or milk) and salt to a boil. Stir in the rolled oats and reduce the heat to low. Simmer for about 5 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the oats are tender and the mixture has thickened.

2

Prepare the Pecans

While the oats are cooking, toast the pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until fragrant and lightly browned. Remove from heat and set aside.

3

Assemble the Oatmeal

Once the oatmeal is cooked, remove it from heat and stir in butter if desired. Serve warm in bowls, topped with dried cherries, toasted pecans, and a sprinkle of brown sugar to taste.
