Burger Patties

Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Beef

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined. Do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for 4-5 minutes on one side, until browned and a crust forms. Flip the patties and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness. If adding cheese, place it on the patties during the last minute of cooking to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, slice the tomato and onion. Rinse the lettuce leaves and pat them dry.

  2. 6

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each hamburger bun, place a lettuce leaf, followed by the cooked patty, slices of tomato, and onion. Add ketchup and mustard to taste. Top with the other half of the bun.

  3. 7

    Serve

Serve the burgers immediately with your choice of sides.
