Fried Pickles
Method
Preparation
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the dill pickle slices and pat them dry with paper towels to remove excess moisture.
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder until well combined.
Prepare the Batter
Pour the buttermilk into the dry mixture and stir until a thick batter forms.
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Fry the Pickles
Dunk each pickle slice into the batter, allowing excess to drip off, and carefully place them into the hot oil. Fry in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown.
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried pickles from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with ranch dressing on the side.
