Chocolate & Pecan Délice Ingredients

Method

Instructions for Chocolate & Pecan Délice

  1. 1

    Prepare the Oven

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F) and grease a 9-inch round cake pan.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a heatproof bowl, combine dark chocolate and unsalted butter. Melt them together over a pot of simmering water (double boiler method) or in the microwave in short bursts, stirring until smooth.

  3. 3

    Mix Sugar and Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk together granulated sugar and large eggs until pale and frothy. Add in the vanilla extract and mix well.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Slowly pour the melted chocolate mixture into the egg mixture while whisking continuously to prevent the eggs from scrambling. Mix until fully combined.

  5. 5

    Add Dry Ingredients

Sift in the all-purpose flour and a pinch of sea salt. Gently fold the dry ingredients into the chocolate mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Incorporate Pecans

Fold in the toasted, chopped pecans until evenly distributed throughout the batter.

  7. 7

    Bake the Délice

Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the edges are set and the center is slightly soft (it will firm up as it cools).

  8. 8

    Cool and Serve

Remove from the oven and let the délice cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then carefully transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.
