Peel the onions and slice them into 1/2-inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set them aside.

In a shallow bowl, add the flour. In another bowl, whisk together the milk and egg until well combined. In a third bowl, mix the panko breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.

In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the cooking oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
