Burger Patties

Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ground Beef

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Use your hands to mix gently until just combined, being careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form each portion into a round patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Patties

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. If using a skillet, you may add a little oil to prevent sticking.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until browned. Flip the patties and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium-rare or longer if desired.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cover to melt the cheese.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the burger buns in half. You may toast them lightly on the grill or skillet if desired.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, layer a lettuce leaf, a cheese-covered patty, tomato slices, onion slices, and pickles. Top with ketchup and mustard to taste, then place the top half of the bun on each burger.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve the burgers immediately with your choice of side dishes such as fries or a salad.
