Brownie Base

Toasted Walnuts

Chocolate Ganache Topping

Method

Brownie Base Preparation

  1. 1

    Melt the Butter

In a medium saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat. Once melted, remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  2. 2

    Mix in Sugar and Eggs

Add the granulated sugar to the melted butter and stir until combined. Add the large eggs, one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.

  3. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Baking Pan

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.

  6. 6

    Bake the Brownies

Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly. Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Toasting the Walnuts

  1. 7

    Toast the Walnuts

While the brownies are baking, spread the walnuts on a baking sheet and sprinkle with salt. Toast in the oven for about 8-10 minutes, or until fragrant and lightly browned. Stir occasionally to ensure even toasting.

  2. 8

    Cool the Walnuts

Remove the walnuts from the oven and let them cool before chopping them coarsely.

Chocolate Ganache Preparation

  1. 9

    Heat the Cream

In a small saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat until it just begins to simmer. Do not let it boil.

  2. 10

    Add Chocolate Chips

Remove the saucepan from the heat and add the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Let it sit for 2-3 minutes to allow the chocolate to melt.

  3. 11

    Whisk the Ganache

Whisk the mixture until smooth and glossy.

Assembly

  1. 12

    Pour Ganache Over Brownies

Once the brownies are baked and cooled slightly, pour the chocolate ganache evenly over the top.

  2. 13

    Top with Walnuts

Sprinkle the toasted walnuts over the ganache before it sets.

  3. 14

    Cool and Serve

Let the ganache set for about 15-20 minutes before slicing the brownies into squares. Serve warm or at room temperature.
