Brownie Batter

Method

Brownie Batter Preparation

  1. 1

    Melt Butter

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium saucepan, melt 1 cup of unsalted butter over low heat. Remove from heat once fully melted.

  2. 2

    Mix Sugars

Add 2 cups of granulated sugar and 1 cup of brown sugar to the melted butter. Stir until well combined and smooth.

  3. 3

    Incorporate Eggs

Add 4 large eggs one at a time to the sugar-butter mixture, mixing well after each addition. Stir in 2 tsp of vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder, and 0.5 tsp of salt.

  5. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

  6. 6

    Add Chocolate Chips

Fold in 1 cup of chocolate chips until evenly distributed.

  7. 7

    Bake Brownies

Pour the brownie batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking pan. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.

Topping Preparation

  1. 8

    Make Ganache

While brownies are baking, heat 1 cup of heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until just simmering.

  2. 9

    Melt Chocolate

Remove the saucepan from heat and add 8 oz of semi-sweet chocolate, stirring until melted and smooth.

  3. 10

    Flavor the Ganache

Stir in 1 tsp of vanilla extract and 0.5 tsp of sea salt to the ganache mixture.

  4. 11

    Pour Ganache

Once brownies are out of the oven and slightly cooled, pour the ganache over the brownies, spreading evenly.

  5. 12

    Add Nuts (Optional)

Sprinkle 0.5 cup of chopped nuts over the ganache if desired.

  6. 13

    Set and Serve

Allow the ganache to set for about 30 minutes before slicing the brownies into squares. Serve and enjoy!
