Key Lime Pie Soufflé Ingredients

Method

Instructions

1

Prepare the Soufflé Base

In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Once melted, whisk in the flour and cook for about 1 minute until bubbly. Gradually add the key lime juice and whisk until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

2

Mix the Egg Yolks

In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract until pale and creamy. Slowly add the cooled key lime mixture and mix until well combined.

3

Whip the Egg Whites

In a clean bowl, whip the egg whites with a pinch of salt until soft peaks form. Gradually add the remaining granulated sugar and continue whipping until stiff peaks form.

4

Combine Mixtures

Gently fold the whipped egg whites into the key lime mixture in three additions, being careful not to deflate the egg whites.

5

Prepare the Ramekins

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease four ramekins with butter and dust the insides with granulated sugar.

6

Bake the Soufflés

Divide the soufflé mixture evenly among the prepared ramekins. Place them on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, until puffed and golden.

7

Serve

Remove the soufflés from the oven, dust with powdered sugar, and serve immediately for the best texture.
