Method
Dumpling Dough Preparation
- 1
Combine Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add water while mixing until a dough forms.
- 2
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Cover with a damp cloth and let it rest for 30 minutes.
Filling Preparation
- 3
Prepare the Filling
In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped shrimp, cabbage, grated carrot, chopped green onions, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Assembling the Dumplings
- 4
Roll the Dough
After the dough has rested, divide it into small pieces. Roll each piece into a thin circle, about 3 inches in diameter.
- 5
Fill the Dumplings
Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each dough circle. Fold the dough over to create a half-moon shape and pinch the edges tightly to seal.
Cooking the Dumplings
- 6
Steam the Dumplings
Prepare a steamer basket lined with parchment paper or cabbage leaves. Place the dumplings in the steamer and steam over boiling water for about 10-12 minutes or until the shrimp is cooked through.
- 7
Serve
Remove the dumplings from the steamer and serve hot with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
