Method
Prepare the Filling
- 1
Mix the Ingredients
In a mixing bowl, combine the crab meat and cream cheese. Use a fork to break up the crab meat and mix thoroughly with the cream cheese until smooth.
- 2
Add Flavorings
Stir in the finely chopped green onions, garlic powder, soy sauce, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.
Assemble the Rangoon
- 3
Prepare Wonton Wrappers
Lay out the wonton wrappers on a clean, dry surface. Keep a bowl of water nearby for sealing the wrappers.
- 4
Fill the Wrappers
Place a small spoonful (about 1 teaspoon) of the crab filling in the center of each wonton wrapper. Avoid overfilling.
- 5
Seal the Wrappers
Wet the edges of the wonton wrapper with water. Fold the wrapper over to create a triangle, pressing the edges firmly to seal. You can also fold the two outer points towards the center for a different shape.
Fry the Rangoon
- 6
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). You can test the oil by dropping a small piece of wonton wrapper into it; it should sizzle immediately.
- 7
Fry the Rangoon
Carefully add the filled wontons to the hot oil in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 8
Drain and Serve
Once cooked, remove the crab rangoon from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
