Sweet Potato Fries
Method
Onion Rings
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the large onions and slice them into 1/4 inch thick rings. Separate the rings and set aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add the cold water, whisking until you achieve a smooth batter.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Onion Rings
Dip each onion ring into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place the battered rings into the hot oil, frying in batches. Cook for 3-4 minutes or until golden brown, turning occasionally. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Sweet Potato Fries
- 5
Prepare the Sweet Potatoes

- 6
Season the Fries
In a large bowl, toss the sweet potato strips with olive oil, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
- 7
Bake the Fries
Spread the seasoned sweet potatoes in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through, until they are crispy and golden brown.
