Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Season the Steak

Remove the Tomahawk steak from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for 1 hour before cooking. Pat it dry with paper towels. In a small bowl, mix together kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and dried rosemary. Rub the mixture all over the steak, ensuring even coverage. Drizzle olive oil over the steak and rub it in.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat, around 450°F to 500°F (232°C to 260°C). If using charcoal, prepare the coals for direct grilling.

  2. 3

    Grill the Steak

Place the seasoned Tomahawk steak on the hot grill. Sear each side for about 4-5 minutes to get a nice crust. After searing, move the steak to a cooler part of the grill (indirect heat) and cook for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness (125°F for medium-rare, 135°F for medium).

  3. 4

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for at least 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute throughout the meat.

Serving

  1. 5

    Plate and Garnish

Slice the steak against the grain into thick slices. Serve with fresh thyme sprigs and lemon wedges on the side for garnish. Enjoy your meal!
