    Prepare the Steak

    Season the New York strip steak with olive oil, salt, and black pepper on both sides.

    Cook the Steak

    Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.

    Melt the Cheese

    In the last minute of cooking, sprinkle the shredded cheese over the steak and cover it to let the cheese melt.
