Make the Chips
Cut the corn tortillas into triangles. Heat the vegetable oil in a deep frying pan over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, fry the tortilla triangles in batches until they are golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per batch. Remove them from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Sprinkle with salt while still warm.

Prepare the Salsa
Finely chop the ripe tomatoes, red onion, jalapeño pepper (seeds removed for less heat), and cilantro. In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped ingredients. Add lime juice and salt to taste. Mix well and let it sit for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
