Method
Prep and Toast Bread
- 1
Slice the Bread
Cut the baguette or ciabatta into ½ inch slices. Aim for about 8-10 slices.
- 2
Toast the Bread
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Arrange the sliced bread on a baking sheet. Brush each slice lightly with olive oil. Toast in the oven for about 8-10 minutes or until golden brown.
Prepare the Topping
- 3
Dice the Tomatoes
Wash the tomatoes, remove the stems, and dice them into small pieces. Place them in a mixing bowl.
- 4
Chop the Basil
Wash the basil leaves, pat them dry, and chop them finely. Add the chopped basil to the bowl with the diced tomatoes.
- 5
Mince the Garlic
Peel and mince the garlic cloves. Add the minced garlic to the bowl with the tomatoes and basil.
- 6
Season the Mixture
Add salt and black pepper to the tomato mixture. Stir well to combine all ingredients, allowing the flavors to meld.
Assemble and Serve
- 7
Top the Toasted Bread
Once the bread is toasted, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice of toasted bread.
- 8
Serve Immediately
Arrange the bruschetta on a platter and serve immediately while the bread is still warm.
