Berry Crème Brûlée Bars

Method

Berry Crème Brûlée Bars

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pan

Preheat your oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan with butter and set aside.

  2. 2

Mix the Sugar and Egg Yolks

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and egg yolks until the mixture is smooth and pale in color.

  3. 3

    Heat the Cream

In a saucepan over medium heat, warm the heavy cream until it's just about to boil. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually pour the warm cream into the egg yolk mixture, whisking continuously until fully combined.

  5. 5

    Add Berries

Gently fold in the mixed berries into the cream mixture, being careful not to break them.

  6. 6

    Bake

Pour the mixture into the prepared baking pan and bake for 30-35 minutes or until set and slightly golden on top.

  7. 7

    Cool and Serve

Allow the bars to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. You can optionally sprinkle some sugar on top and use a kitchen torch to caramelize the sugar for a crispy top.

Chocolate Salted Caramel Bars

  1. 8

    Prepare the Pan

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x9 inch baking pan with butter or line with parchment paper.

  2. 9

    Make the Base

In a large bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, unsweetened cocoa powder, brown sugar, melted unsalted butter, and salt. Mix until the dough comes together.

  3. 10

    Press into the Pan

Press the chocolate dough evenly into the bottom of the prepared baking pan to form the base.

  4. 11

    Bake the Base

Bake the base in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then remove and let cool slightly.

  5. 12

    Prepare the Caramel Layer

In a saucepan over low heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk and chocolate chips. Stir until melted and smooth.

  6. 13

    Add Caramel Layer

Pour the chocolate and condensed milk mixture over the cooled base and spread evenly.

  7. 14

    Bake Again

Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes or until the caramel is bubbly and set.

  8. 15

    Cool and Add Sea Salt

Let the bars cool completely in the pan. Once cooled, sprinkle with sea salt before cutting into squares. Serve and enjoy!
