Dough Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate the Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture, yogurt, and olive oil. Mix until a dough forms.

  3. 3

    Knead the Dough

Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth. Place in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1-2 hours or until doubled in size.

  4. 4

    Shape the Naan

Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 6 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a ball and then flatten it into an oval shape.

  5. 5

    Add Garlic

Finely chop 2-3 cloves of garlic and sprinkle on one side of each naan. Press gently to adhere.

  6. 6

    Cook the Naan

Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat. Place the naan, garlic side down, in the skillet. Cook for 1-2 minutes until bubbles form, then flip and cook for another 1-2 minutes.

  7. 7

    Serve

Remove from skillet and brush with melted butter or ghee if desired. Serve warm.
