Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Clean the Clams

Rinse the clams in cold water to remove any sand or debris. Soak them in fresh water for about 20 minutes to help purge any remaining sand. Rinse again.

Cooking

  1. 2

    Melt the Butter

In a large pot over medium heat, melt the unsalted butter.

  2. 3

    Sauté the Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the melted butter and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, until fragrant but not browned.

  3. 4

    Add Wine and Clams

Pour in the dry white wine and bring to a simmer. Add the cleaned clams to the pot.

  4. 5

    Steam the Clams

Cover the pot with a lid and steam the clams for about 5-7 minutes, or until they open up. Discard any clams that remain closed.

  5. 6

    Season and Serve

Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley, add salt and black pepper to taste. Serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
