Cheese Filling

Phyllo Dough

Method

Prepare the Filling

  1. 1

    Mix Cheese and Honey

In a mixing bowl, combine the chevre cheese and honey. Use a fork to blend them together until smooth and creamy.

  2. 2

    Chop Dried Fruits

Finely chop the dried fruits of your choice and fold them into the cheese mixture until evenly distributed.

Assemble the Trouxas

  1. 3

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).

  2. 4

    Prepare Phyllo Sheets

Lay out one sheet of phyllo dough on a clean surface. Brush the entire sheet with melted butter. Place another sheet on top and brush with more butter. Repeat until you have 3 layers.

  3. 5

    Add Filling

Spoon a portion of the cheese and dried fruit filling onto one end of the layered phyllo dough. Shape it into a log, leaving some space at the edges.

  4. 6

    Roll and Seal

Fold the sides of the phyllo over the filling, then roll it up tightly from the filled end to the opposite end. Brush the end with more melted butter to seal.

  5. 7

    Repeat

Repeat the process with the remaining phyllo sheets and filling until all are assembled.

Bake the Trouxas

  1. 8

    Arrange on Baking Sheet

Place the rolled trouxas on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, seam side down.

  2. 9

    Brush with Butter

Brush the tops of the trouxas with more melted butter for a golden finish.

  3. 10

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy.

Serve

  1. 11

    Cool and Serve

Remove the trouxas from the oven and let them cool slightly. Serve warm, drizzled with additional honey if desired.
