Soak the Codfish
Rinse the salted codfish under cold water to remove excess salt. Soak the codfish in water for 24 hours, changing the water every 8 hours to further reduce the saltiness.

Chop the Onions and Garlic
Finely chop the onion and garlic cloves.
Cooking

Cook the Codfish
After soaking, drain the codfish and boil it in fresh water for about 15-20 minutes until tender. Remove from heat, let it cool, then flake the fish into bite-sized pieces, removing any bones.

Fry the Potatoes
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat. Drain the potato slices and add them to the skillet. Fry until golden brown and tender, about 10-15 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

Combine Ingredients
In a large baking dish, layer the fried potatoes, sautéed onions, flaked codfish, and season with black pepper and nutmeg. Pour the heavy cream over the top and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.

Bake the Dish
Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake the layered dish for about 30-40 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
