Sugar Cured Ham Ingredients
Method
Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Curing Mixture
In a large bowl, combine brown sugar, table salt, black pepper, cure salt, garlic powder, and ground cloves. Mix thoroughly.
- 2
Cure the Ham
Rub the curing mixture all over the ham, ensuring it is well coated. Place the ham in a large, non-reactive container or a heavy-duty resealable plastic bag. Refrigerate for 7 to 10 days, turning the ham every couple of days to ensure even curing.
- 3
Rinse and Prepare for Cooking
After the curing period, remove the ham from the refrigerator. Rinse it under cold water to remove excess salt and cure ingredients. Pat dry with paper towels.
- 4
Cook the Ham
Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C). Place the ham in a roasting pan and cover it loosely with aluminum foil. Cook for about 15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 140°F (60°C).

- 6
Rest and Serve
Once cooked, remove the ham from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing. Serve with your choice of crowd-pleasing sides.
