Method
Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Roast
Bring the prime rib roast to room temperature for about 1 hour before cooking. Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- 2
Season the Rib
In a small bowl, mix together the kosher salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and thyme. Rub the prime rib with olive oil and then generously apply the seasoning mixture all over the roast.
- 3
Roast the Prime Rib
Place the prime rib on a roasting rack in a roasting pan. Roast in the preheated oven for 15 minutes, then reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C). Continue roasting for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches 130°F (54°C) for medium-rare.
- 4
Rest the Meat
Remove the prime rib from the oven and tent it with aluminum foil. Let it rest for 20-30 minutes to allow the juices to redistribute.
- 5
- 6
Slice and Serve
After resting, slice the prime rib into 10oz portions and serve with the prepared jus.
