Fried Crab Claws

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Crab Claws

Rinse the crab claws under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Make the Breading

In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, cornmeal, salt, black pepper, and paprika. In another bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk.

  3. 3

    Coat the Crab Claws

Dip each crab claw first into the egg mixture, then dredge in the flour-cornmeal mixture, making sure they are evenly coated.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot but not smoking.

  5. 5

    Fry the Crab Claws

Carefully add the coated crab claws to the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Cook for 3-4 minutes on each side until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Serve

Remove the fried crab claws from the oil and drain on paper towels. Serve hot with the spicy cocktail sauce made by mixing horseradish sauce, ketchup, and hot sauce to taste.
