Profiteroles

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Choux Pastry

In a saucepan, combine the water, butter, and salt. Bring to a boil over medium heat. Once boiling, add the flour all at once and stir vigorously until the mixture forms a ball and pulls away from the sides of the pan. Remove from heat and let cool for a few minutes.

  2. 2

    Incorporate the Eggs

Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition until the dough is smooth and glossy.

  3. 3

    Pipe the Dough

Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Using a piping bag or a spoon, pipe small mounds of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spaced about 2 inches apart.

  4. 4

    Bake the Profiteroles

Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are puffed and golden brown. Do not open the oven door during baking. Once done, remove from the oven and let cool.

  5. 5

    Fill the Profiteroles

Once cooled, use a small knife to make a slit in the side of each profiterole. Fill each one with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

  6. 6

    Serve with Chocolate Sauce

Drizzle chocolate sauce over the filled profiteroles and serve immediately.
