Method

Preparing the Olive Salad

1

Make the Olive Salad

In a mixing bowl, combine the green olives, black olives, roasted red peppers, minced garlic, chopped parsley, dried oregano, red wine vinegar, and olive oil. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly coated with dressing.

Assembling the Muffaletta

2

Slice the Bread

Carefully slice the muffaletta bread or round loaf in half horizontally. Make sure not to cut all the way through; keep it connected at the back.

3

Layer the Ingredients

Spread half of the olive salad on the bottom half of the bread. Layer the Genoa salami, capicola, mortadella, provolone cheese, and fresh mozzarella cheese on top of the olive salad.

4

Add More Olive Salad

Spread the remaining olive salad on top of the cheese and meats.

5

Close the Sandwich

Place the top half of the bread over the fillings and press down gently to compact the sandwich.

6

Wrap and Refrigerate

Wrap the muffaletta tightly in plastic wrap or aluminum foil. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

7

Serve

Remove the sandwich from the refrigerator, unwrap it, and cut into wedges. Serve cold or at room temperature.
