Tater Tots

Method

Tater Tots Preparation

  1. 1

    Bake the Tater Tots

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Spread the frozen tater tots evenly on a baking sheet. Drizzle with vegetable oil and toss to coat. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, turning halfway through.

Etouffee Sauce Preparation

  1. 2

    Cook the Vegetables

In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until the vegetables are softened.

  2. 3

    Add Garlic and Seasoning

Stir in the minced garlic and Cajun seasoning. Cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  3. 4

    Add Broth and Tomatoes

Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and the canned diced tomatoes. Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat and let it cook for about 15 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  4. 5

    Garnish and Serve

Once the sauce has thickened slightly, remove from heat. Serve the etouffee sauce over the baked tater tots, and garnish with chopped green onions.

Creamy Cajun Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Make the Roux

In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Whisk in the flour and cook, stirring continuously, for about 2-3 minutes until it turns a light golden color.

  2. 7

    Add Cream and Seasoning

Slowly pour in the heavy cream while whisking constantly. Add the Cajun seasoning, and continue to whisk until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

  3. 8

    Garnish and Serve

Remove from heat and garnish with chopped green onions. Drizzle the creamy Cajun sauce over the baked tater tots.
