Potatoes

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Wash and Cut Potatoes

Thoroughly wash the Russet potatoes under cold water. Peel them if desired, then cut each potato into evenly sized strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak Potatoes

Place the cut potato strips in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This step helps to remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). This high temperature will help achieve that golden crispy texture.

  2. 4

    Drain and Dry Potatoes

After soaking, drain the potato strips and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels. Make sure they are as dry as possible.

  3. 5

    Season Potatoes

In a large bowl, combine the dried potato strips with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Toss until all the fries are evenly coated.

  4. 6

    Bake Potatoes

Spread the seasoned fries in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, flipping them halfway through, until they are golden brown and crispy.

Serving

  1. 7

    Serve Hot

Once baked, remove the fries from the oven and allow them to cool for a couple of minutes. Serve them hot as a side dish or snack.
