Method

Prepare Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into four equal portions and form each portion into a patty, about 3/4 inch thick. Make a small indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Cook Mushrooms

  1. 3

    Heat the Oil

In a skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat.

  2. 4

    Sauté the Mushrooms

Add the sliced mushrooms to the skillet and sprinkle with salt and black pepper. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mushrooms are browned and tender.

  3. 5

    Add Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the mushrooms and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes until fragrant. Remove from heat and set aside.

Cook Burger Patties

  1. 6

    Grill the Patties

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness, or until they reach your desired level of doneness.

  2. 7

    Add Swiss Cheese

During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and cover to melt the cheese.

Assemble the Burgers

  1. 8

    Prepare the Buns

Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 9

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, place a leaf of lettuce, followed by the cooked patty with melted Swiss cheese, sautéed mushrooms, a slice of tomato, and condiments like ketchup and mustard to taste. Cover with the top half of the bun.

  3. 10

    Serve

Serve the Mushroom & Swiss Burgers immediately with your choice of sides.
