Preparation of Ice Cream Base

Mix the Base Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the sugar is fully dissolved.

Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or until it's thoroughly chilled.
Flavoring the Ice Cream

Add Flavoring
If making chocolate ice cream, whisk in the cocoa powder until smooth. If making strawberry ice cream, fold in the diced strawberries gently into the chilled mixture.
Churning the Ice Cream

Churn the Mixture
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.

Freeze the Ice Cream
Transfer the churned ice cream into an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
