Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). This ensures that your cookies bake evenly.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Whisk them together until well combined.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugars

In a large bowl, beat the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until the mixture is light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.

  4. 4

    Add Egg and Vanilla

Add the egg and vanilla extract to the butter and sugar mixture. Beat until fully incorporated.

  5. 5

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

  6. 6

    Fold in Add-ins

Gently fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

  7. 7

    Scoop the Dough

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving enough space between each cookie.

Baking

  1. 8

    Bake Cookies

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown.

  2. 9

    Cool Cookies

Remove the cookies from the oven and let them cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes. Then, transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
