Preparation

  1. 1

    Slice the Vegetables

Thinly slice the onion and mushrooms. If using whole peppers, slice them into thin strips.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Beef

Cut the Wagyu beef into thin strips, roughly 1/4 inch thick. Season with salt and black pepper to taste.

Cooking

  1. 3

    Sauté the Vegetables

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook until they become translucent, about 3-4 minutes. Add the mushrooms and peppers, and continue cooking for another 5-6 minutes until the vegetables are soft and slightly caramelized.

  2. 4

    Cook the Beef

Push the cooked vegetables to the side of the skillet and add the beef strips to the center. Sear the beef for about 3-4 minutes until browned, mixing with the vegetables halfway through.

  3. 5

    Melt the Cheese

Once the beef is cooked to your desired level of doneness, lower the heat and lay the slices of white American cheese over the beef and vegetables. Cover the skillet with a lid for 2-3 minutes to allow the cheese to melt.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Prepare the Hoagie Rolls

While the cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise but do not cut all the way through. You want to create a pocket for the filling.

  2. 7

    Fill the Rolls

Once the cheese has melted, use a spatula to scoop the beef and vegetable mixture into the prepared hoagie rolls.

  3. 8

    Serve

Serve immediately while hot, and enjoy your delicious American Wagyu cheesesteak!
