Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Gyros Meat

If using pre-cooked gyros meat, warm it in a skillet over medium heat until heated through, about 5-7 minutes. If cooking raw meat, season with salt, pepper, and your favorite spices, then cook until fully done.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the meat is cooking, dice the tomato, slice the red onion, and slice the Greek peppers and black olives. If desired, slice jalapenos for added heat.

Assembly

  1. 3

    Layer the Nachos

On a large platter or baking sheet, create a base layer with pita chips. Evenly distribute the warmed gyros meat over the chips.

  2. 4

    Add the Toppings

Sprinkle diced tomatoes, sliced red onions, Greek peppers, sliced olives, and jalapenos (if using) over the gyros meat. Top with shredded mozzarella cheese and crumbled feta cheese.

Baking

  1. 5

    Melt the Cheese

Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F). Place the assembled nachos in the oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

Serving

  1. 6

    Serve Warm

Remove the nachos from the oven, let cool for a couple of minutes, then serve warm with additional tzatziki sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
