Meat Preparation

Gyros Assembly

Method

Meat Preparation

  1. 1

    Marinate the Beef

In a large bowl, combine the olive oil, minced garlic, oregano, paprika, cumin, salt, black pepper, and lemon juice. Add the beef sirloin, ensuring it is well-coated with the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best flavor.

  2. 2

    Cook the Beef

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the beef from the marinade and discard any excess marinade. Grill the beef for about 6-8 minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired level of doneness. Remove from heat and let it rest for 5 minutes before slicing thinly.

Tzatziki Sauce

  1. 3

    Make the Tzatziki Sauce

In a medium bowl, combine the Greek yogurt, grated cucumber (squeeze out excess moisture), minced garlic, chopped dill, lemon juice, and salt. Stir until well mixed. Cover and refrigerate until ready to serve.

Gyros Assembly

  1. 4

    Assemble the Gyros

Warm the pita bread slightly on the grill or in a microwave. Place a generous amount of sliced beef on each pita, followed by sliced tomatoes, red onion, and shredded lettuce. Top with a spoonful of tzatziki sauce. Roll the pita around the filling and serve immediately.
