Cook the Noodles
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Cook the thick round noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Add Tomato Sauce and Seasoning
To the beef mixture, add the tomato sauce, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and simmer for about 10 minutes.

Mix Ricotta and Eggs
In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, eggs, and a pinch of salt. Mix well.

Layer the Dish
In a greased baking dish, layer half of the cooked noodles, followed by half of the beef mixture, half of the ricotta mixture, and a sprinkle of mozzarella. Repeat the layers, finishing with mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top.

Bake
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Add Tomatoes and Seasoning
Once oil is heated, add canned crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, sugar, salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine.

Simmer the Sauce
Let the sauce simmer for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until slightly thickened. Adjust seasoning to taste.

Finish with Fresh Basil
Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving.
