Method

Gyros Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Meat

In a large bowl, combine the ground lamb or beef, chopped onion, minced garlic, oregano, cumin, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.

  2. 2

    Shape and Cook

Shape the meat mixture into small patties or logs. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Cook the meat patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side or until cooked through.

  3. 3

    Prepare Pita and Tzatziki

Warm the pita bread in a dry skillet or microwave. Serve the cooked gyros with tzatziki sauce on the side.

Baked Chicken Preparation

  1. 4

    Marinate the Chicken

In a bowl, mix together lemon juice, garlic powder, paprika, salt, black pepper, and olive oil. Add the chicken breasts and coat well. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes.

  2. 5

    Bake the Chicken

Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F). Place the marinated chicken on a baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and juices run clear.

  3. 6

    Garnish

Once cooked, remove from the oven and sprinkle with chopped parsley before slicing.

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 7

    Chop and Arrange Vegetables

Dice the tomato and cucumber, and thinly slice the red onion. Arrange the vegetables on a platter as a fresh accompaniment to the gyros and baked chicken.
